Digital Essentials - Intro to Digital SLR Cameras and Photography (PSDE)

This one day course (9:30-4:30) covers the functions and features of all the dials and buttons on your camera - what they are and what they do.

Theory in the morning - practical in the afternoon, with morning and afternoon tea provided.

Topics covered include:

MORNING:

• Why you should never use ‘AUTO’ again.
• Program Mode - Why?
• Apertures - what they are and what they do.
• Shutter speeds - create or freeze movement.
• Manual exposure - you’re in control!
• ISO explained
• Flash explained - when to use and when not to use. How to overide your camera’s auto-flash mode.

 

AFTERNOON:

Put into practice all the theory covered in the morning:-

• Creating portraits with a ‘blurry’ background
• Take landscapes with the correct ‘depth of Field’ to maximise sharpness.
• Freeze a moving object such as a water drop.
• Create the ‘misty’ effect of running water.
• Using flash during the day - no more dark shadowy outdoor portraits.
